LONGMONT, CO -- Left Hand Brewing has adopted clean energy with the installation of a solar electric system from Simple Solar. The decision to switch to a cost effective and environmentally friendly source of energy “fits ideally with our mission to do the right thing as a business,” says Eric Wallace, President of Left Hand Brewing. “Implementing solar power is a big step in the right direction for our company,” adds Wallace.
For many businesses, solar is readily being adopted as an effective alternative to conventional energy sources. With the cost of traditional energy on the rise and with excellent incentives in place, solar continues to be a great way to reduce energy costs for the long term. Furthermore, every kilowatt hour produced by a solar system is a kilowatt hour that isn’t needed from less sustainable sources. “Simple Solar is proud to have been chosen to provide a solar solution to an exemplary company like Left Hand Brewing,” says Steve Bauhs, Director of Sales at Simple Solar. “Eric and Left Hand Brewing offer a stellar example for other business aspiring to save money and help build a sustainable future.”
The 4.83 kW Left Hand Brewing system, installed in May, 2009, was the first commercial client to apply for a solar system implementation under the City of Longmont Solar Power Partners Program, a matching grant program provided in partnership with the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO).
"We look forward to a continued partnership with the Governor's Energy Office to offer programs that benefit our customers, expand renewable energy generation and create green jobs for our community," says Patrick Goggin, Energy Services Engineer for Longmont Power & Communications. The City program provided Left Hand Brewing a rebate of $14,490 for the installation.

LPC electric rates are consistently among the lowest in Colorado and the nation. LPC provides a variety of incentive programs and services to residential and commercial customers to support electric efficiency and renewable energy, including solar electric rebates and net metering.
About GEO
The Governor's Energy Office (GEO) has created a Solar Rebate Program to promote installations of solar hot water, solar electricity (photovoltaic – PV) and, an orphan hot water systems program for residents and businesses statewide. The Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association is administering the program for the GEO. The program is designed to increase the overall number of solar installations throughout the state. The funding is effectively doubling the funding available in this rebate program by partnering with cities, utilities, and non-profit organizations through a matching grant program. The Program Partners will use the GEO's matching grant funds to set up local solar rebate programs. The rebates will allow customers to install solar systems at considerable savings.
